What is the gamma knife?
The gamma knife is a type of surgery that uses targeted beams of radiation to treat trigeminal neuralgia without invasive surgery. The procedure involves three steps: first, the doctor places an implant in your skull that directs the radiation toward the area where pain occurs; second, you undergo an MRI to help determine how much radiation should be used; third (and finally), you will receive up to twelve treatments over several weeks or months.
